Models for Spatial and Spatiotemporal Data
Spatial data, data that have locations associated with them, and spatiotemporal data, spatial data that have been collected over time, appear in an enormous number of research areas, from ecology, climate science, and neuroscience, to criminology, infectious disease modeling, and astronomy. Penn State Statistics has several faculty who work on developing new spatial and spatiotemporal models to address scientific questions from a wide variety of disciplines, for instance studying the spread of infectious diseases, the ecology of lakes, the dynamics of animal movement, neuroscience, and the impact of climate on ice sheets.
