Penn State's Biology curriculum gives you both the breadth and depth you'll need to understand modern biology at all levels of integration. Penn State is a top-tier research institution; our faculty conduct research on a wide range of topics ranging from coral reef ecology to molecular evolution to the neurological bases underlying mental disorders.
Six options for Biology majors emphasize different aspects of the field, allowing a tailored experience based on specific interests.
- General Biology
- Genetics & Developmental Biology
- Plant Biology
- Vertebrate Physiology
Research experience will expand your understanding of what you learn in the classroom and strengthen your problem-solving skills. Work with faculty members in the Department of Biology, or one of our neighboring departments, to research problems that affect society today including climate change, infectious disease, evolutionary genomics, and more.
